About the book
"Danish Folktales," authored by Svend-Erik Engh and brought to life through the exquisite illustrations of Danish artist Tea Bendix, is a treasury brimming with tales from Denmark.
The book, released in October 2023, made its debut at The Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh on the 8th of October. Svend-Erik has carefully curated twenty-seven of the finest stories, honed through his three-decade journey as a professional storyteller. Within the book's pages, there is an assortment of fairy tales, many of which were collected by the renowned folklorist Evald Tang Kristensen.
Alongside these fairy tales, from profound tragedy to delightful whimsy, the book features four legends from the Viking age, four stories from the era of Christian IV, and four previously unreleased legends from Lolland, dating back to around 1800.
The book's beauty is enhanced by the remarkable illustrations of Danish artist Tea Bendix. Tea adds her unique creative touch to the stories, transforming the reading experience into a visual delight.
