Please join us on Wednesday, October 26 for a conversation between pre-eminent Iran scholar Rasmus Christian Elling, associate professor at Copenhagen University with a PhD in Iran Studies and Aram Ostadian- Binai, social entrepreneur, branding consultant and founder of The Soulfuls, a community and consultancy that works toward inclusion of women of all backgrounds.

The streets of Iran are once again aflame with the protests. 43 years (and many uprisings) since the Islamic revolution of 1979, a well-educated, freedom-loving people continue their struggle for freedom from a regime that insists on an archaic set of values to govern its 86 million citizens.

With his expertise in the history of Iran, Rasmus Chr. Elling will offer an all-important historic context: Why is Iran where it is today? What are the societal, cultural and political factors that have played a role in shaping the country as it stands today, and what does history tell us about the uprisings we have witnessed in the last 50 years.

Rasmus Elling will be in conversation with Aram Ostadian-Binai who left Iran at age 14 with her mother and sister and went on to found an organization that works for a free, fair and inclusive future for young women of all backgrounds. Aram’s natural perspective will therefore be the situation for women in Iran, their fight for freedom and what it is we see unfolding in Iran today.
